The Immaculate Conception is the name of the Blessed Mother Ever Virgin Mary. She was conceived by human parents, like Eve, who was conceived from Adam’s rib. Mary was immaculate, free from original sin, like Eve. Mary was pre-ordained by God to be immaculate so that she might bring forth the new Adam, Jesus, to replace in humanity the sin that Eve conceived of with the first Adam. Mary is the mother of our savior, but not God, just as Eve is the mother of sinful humankind, but was not the devil. Therefore, we rightly call the Blessed Mother Ever Virgin Mary God, the Immaculate Conception. We celebrate the fact that she is the embodiment of God’s plan to have humans participate in the salvation of all humankind.
